Golden Retrievers often gently carry around objects in their soft mouths. Some think they were bred to carefully carry hunted fowl and other game. 


Goldens shed a lot year-round. Daily brushing helps control loose fur and keeps their water-repellent coat healthy. Some call it "golden glitter.


Sadly, Goldens have high cancer rates - 60% will develop cancer. Efforts to study and reduce this risk are underway. Regular vet checks are advised.
